Broad Arrow Auctions enjoyed a successful European debut as BMW AG’s official auction partner during the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Over 70 exceptional cars, boats and motorcycles were offered across two sales at Villa Erba on May 24-25, generating €31,172,625 (£26,126,244) with 78 per cent of lots sold, including three post-auction sales. Over 8000 people tuned in live via YouTube.
The standout was a 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa, considered perhaps the most original early Ferrari, which sold for a record €7,543,750 (£6,322,530) following fierce telephone bidding. Commissioned by an early Ferrari client, the car had never been publicly offered and boasted a rich competition and award history.
