A wide variety of entries injected plenty of intrigue into SWVA’s Summer Classic Car Auction on July 28, with bargains and top performers alike crossing the block at the firm’s Poole venue.
British classics featured heavily, especially of the open top variety. All six MGs entered found new homes, including one of the last 20 MG RV8s produced, which beat its modest £12,500-£15,000 estimate to sell for £16,300 plus fees. In addition, a 2002 MG TF almost doubled its upper guide to sell on the hammer for £3850, and a couple of Triumphs performed well too, with a particularly attractive 1972 Mk4 Spitfire close to the top end of its guide at £5850 plus fees, and a 1970 Vitesse selling mid-estimate for a hammer price of £10,100.
