When I was 19, I met a hero of mine. The man was Dr Alex Moulton, and he will be known to readers of CCB as the suspension genius behind BMC’s Hydrolastic and Hydragas. Unlike those who say you should never meet your heroes, I think you should – Dr Moulton was charm itself, a delightful chap who listened to what I had to say and was gracious enough to share with me anecdotes about his past. I left, it felt, as a friend – and would have returned to visit him had he not died when he did.
