Coinciding with the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show at Birmingham’s NEC, The annual National Car Club Awards have been a highlight on the classic car calendar since 2016. Sadly, neither could take place in person this year, but it didn’t mean the efforts of the UK’s car clubs went unrecognised. Instead, the awards were presented via Zoom as part of an online show on March 27, attracting over 67,500 viewers.
A unanimous decision by judges saw the Lockdown Hero award given posthumously to Richard Davies, a member of the MR2 Drivers Club who sadly passed away in November 2020 after contracting coronavirus.
