When it came out in 1996, the Boxster was one of the most expensive and desirable roadsters on sale. And when the Boxster S was introduced in 2000, it was even more expensive than its closest rival, the BMW Z3M. In fact, even the TVR Chimaera, while hand-assembled and more powerful than the Boxster, took a lot of option-ticking before it could get close to the £32,000-£40,000 range the apparently ‘poor man’s Porsche’ operated in. And yet, today the Boxster finds itself valued well below the BMW and TVR, while not much more than far more modest roadsters of the 1990s. We reckon it’s fantastic value, and here’s why.
