I have recently been watching an amazing documentary series simply titled Africa. The 2013 British TV series was created by the BBC Natural History Unit, and focuses on wildlife and wild habitats in Africa.
The six episodes in this BBC Earth series, each an hour long, focus on areas such as the Kalahari, Savanna, Congo and Cape.
While the episodes are filmed hundreds to thousands of kilometres apart, there is one very clear, common element across all of them: water.
Specifically the incredible impact that water, or the lack thereof, has on nature and survival. Without water, there is no life.
The water element hit close to home, considering the drought crises the Western Cape is facing at the moment.
The final episode, entitled “The Future”, focuses on environmental issues…
