HONG KONG'S CATHAY Pacific has released an updated Asia Miles earnings chart, which came into effect on August 20. Passengers can now earn more status points and Asia Miles when travelling in first, business and premium economy class, as well as certain economy fares on select regional routes, but fewer on the cheapest economy tickets.
Distance zones have been reclassified, with routes between 751 and 2,750 miles now categorised into two zones based on the country/region of origin or destination:
Short - Type 2 includes routes to/from Japan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and India (e.g. Jakarta, Mumbai, Tokyo), while Short - Type 1 includes shorter services including to China, Thailand and Malaysia (e.g. Shanghai, Bangkok, Penang).
Meanwhile, routes between 2,751 and 5,000 miles will be consolidated into one distance…
