Launched in Düsseldorf in 2023 and now in its third year (with the 2024 edition held in Astana, Kazakhstan), the event has grown in popularity, offering non-professionals and enthusiasts a unique opportunity to compete against elite players in a thrilling and high-stakes mixed format, featuring three days of rapid and two days of blitz chess.
The third edition of the event, with a total prize fund of €500,000 (£421,000) primarily provided by the Scheinberg Family (who also sponsor the Grand Swiss), saw MGD1 emerge as the dominant force in the Rapid tournament, while WR Chess clinched their second consecutive World Team Blitz Championship.
The tournament brought together 54 teams, including 116 Grandmasters, legendary figures, and rising stars -underscoring its growing prominence on the global chess calendar.
