British band Led Zeppelin (from left, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant), in front of a private Boeing 720 known as The Starship, arrived in style at Teterboro, New Jersey, during their 1973 US tour. The band was among the first to use the converted 1960 United Airlines airplane (the first Boeing 720 built). Former teen idol Bobby Sherman and his manager, Ward Sylvester, bought the decade-old aircraft to fly the biggest names in rock. A $200,000 refit removed two-thirds of the original 131 passenger seats and added amenities such as a long bar with built-in organ, swivel leather seats, shag carpeting, a bedroom with waterbed and shower, an electric fireplace, a television and a movie library.
