DAY ONE
Kamchatka, one of the hardest-to-reach parts of Russia, is often described as another planet. Meet La Datcha in the peninsula’s capital city, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, ringed by three snowcapped volcanoes, and settle in before dinner on board and a night at anchor – after a quick ski, if time permits.
DAY TWO
After breakfast, the ice-classed yacht will cruise the fjords south of the city. Take both helicopters to the top of Vilyuchinsky volcano and ski down 6,500ft to the Pacific Ocean coast. In the afternoon, try fishing for halibut, flounder and Kamchatka crab, or take shelter in the observation lounge and keep an eye out for whales and orca. Dinner will be in Vilyuchinskaya Bay, anchored in the shadow of the towering 7,000ft volcano.
