Amartey Golding’s most ambitious show to date, Bring Me to Heal encompasses an ornate handcrafted garment, two films and a photographic series that applies rituals of healing to the concept of White British Trauma. We are one of a number of groups that work tirelessly to protect your marine environment here in Brighton & Hove. A Winter Warmer Mushroom Soup 1 tbsp olive oil1 onion, finely chopped750g chestnut mushrooms, sliced2 garlic cloves, crushed500ml vegetable stock100ml milk or your favourite milk alternative2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley OPTIONAL Other herbs: Za’atar, or a small amount of Rosemary and Thyme STEP 1 Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium-high heat. Exploring extremity and diversity as two interlinked themes, Strange Relations invites audiences to experience work of an extremely large scale and in turn at a tiny, intimate size. Selected for the show via an open call, artists Simon Le Boggit and Carys Reilly have created a playful ‘sizeshifting’ experience for this ground-breaking exhibition at Brighton’s Fabrica. Carys Reilly’s series includes psychologically charged sculptures, though tiny, they powerfully convey bodily intimacy and interiority. In contrast, Simon Le Boggit’s expansive video installation, Even Giants Have to Bend, fills Fabrica’s 10m high ceiling with the movement and sound of huge trees in a strong wind, immersing the viewers below it. It is pretty horrific, then, to find out that Southern Water has been dumping raw sewage into our coastal waters. A multi-million-pound project has been launched to connect nature, people and heritage across the eastern South Downs and surrounding towns. Led by the National Trust, the partnership brings together organisations to work with local communities, farmers and landowners. Its aim is to restore and protect the internationally rare chalk grassland, bring diverse histories to life and provide new experiences in the outdoors to those who need it most. A National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £2.23 million will be supplemented by partners through funding, fundraising, volunteer time and in-kind support. After nearly a fortnight of overflowing bins, Brighton and Hove City Council have reached an agreement with GMB to call off a further month of striking. GMB said the deal confirmed at a council meeting on the 19th of October meant the lowest paid council staff - predominantly female workers - across the city will get a pay rise after union members stood up to the council. The strikes, which began on the 5th of October, were started in response to the council constantly changing shift patterns and removing HGV drivers at the whim of local management.
