Two shows at the Hollywood Bowl (May 31 and June 1), which sold out some 36,000 seats in 10 minutes (ticket prices ranged from $39 to $150), marked another career high for Bruno Mars, who has landed 17 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, 11 of them in the top 10. The concert feat did not go unappreciated by the singer, who name-checked local venues like Irish watering hole Molly Malone’s, where he had played in a bar band just six years ago. This audience, of course, had a much more upscale vibe.
