PLAY MISTY FOR ME
IMAGE BY PETER KIRK, 23 APRIL 2016
When shooting mountain-bike events, I use my MTB to get on the course, because a motorbike is noisy and spoils the experience for the riders. In this instance however, I ran roughly four kilometres on the course to key areas, as we didn’t have the time to shoot from the MTB. I ran against the flow of riders, picking off shots, which worked brilliantly. The morning light was exceptional on this day, with the sunlight streaming across the mountains and a fine mist burning off. A lone rider cresting the switchbacks with the mountains as a backdrop was all I needed to capture the essence of why we love mountain biking.
