I’m sure you’ll be poring over the BBC Proms listings, making plans to attend or wishing you could. This month’s reviews pages feature a good many artists paying a visit to the Royal Albert Hall this season, so why not whet your appetite and dive into some of their recordings? Orchestra-wise we have both the London and Liverpool Philharmonics, plus Bremen’s Kammerphilharmonie and the Britten Sinfonia. Conductors include Nicholas Collon, Paavo Järvi, Edward Gardner, Domingo Hindoyan and Vladimir Jurowski, while taking centre-stage are pianists Isata Kanneh-Mason and Alexander Melnikov, violinist María Dueñas and baritone Michael Spyres.
All that, plus the usual archives roundup, Brief Notes and books.
