We seem to have an abundance of quality quartets this month, with a pair of appearances from the Piatti Quartet, some cracking Korngold from the Tippett Quartet (our Chamber Choice), marvellous Mozart from Quatuor Ébène and a heap of Haydn from the aptly named London Haydn Quartet. And there’s more, for we have both the Bozzini and Heath Quartets, not to mention the great Amadeus Quartet in our monthly ‘From the Archives’ round-up.
If four is three too many for you, then there are star soloists this month, too, such as Martha Argerich (our Concerto Choice), Yuja Wang and Isabelle Faust, plus a bounty of great recordings from Benjamin Grosvenor, Charlie Siem and Jean Rondeau.
This month’s critics
John Allison, Nicholas Anderson, Terry Blain, Kate Bolton-Porciatti, Garry Booth, Geoff Brown,…
