Yes, OK, we know that Sandbach is, in fact, a town in Cheshire. This particular sand Bach, however, recently made his appearance on the beach in Fife, Scotland, as part of the East Neuk Festival. Since it was founded in 2004, the five-day festival has regularly taken advantage of its coastal position with some aptly commissioned pieces of visual art. In the past, these have included a sand sculpture of Beethoven (2011) and a beach portrait of Schubert (2014). With this year’s programme having a Bach theme to it, it was, of course, JSB who got the nod.
