DENVER Outfielder Raimel Tapia unexpectedly played in the Arizona Fall League and seized the opportunity.
He was scheduled to return home and play in the Domincan Winter League but instead went to the Fall League to replace outfielder David Dahl, who was sidelined with knee soreness. Dahl was scheduled to be the Rockies’ priority player with Salt River, and Tapia filled that role, getting 91 plate appearances in 23 games.
“I didn’t want him to go the Fall League and not play,” farm director Zach Wilson.
