KANSAS CITY Marten Gasparini was scuffling in the Pioneer League, hitting .205/.275/.346 on July 27 with Rookie-level Idaho Falls.
But within the next nine games, Gasparini, 18, hiked his batting average 51 points, his on-base percentage 45 points and his slugging 73 points.
Gasparini hit safely in eight of the nine games, including six-multi-hit games. He logged four triples, drew four walks, scored nine runs and drove in nine runs. He hit .455, going 15-for-33 in that span.
“His last month he’s really done well,” Royals assistant general manager Scott Sharp said. “The first month he struggled, adjusting to the league, and (since) has done very well.”
