ORLANDO, FLA. Space was so tight this year at Champion Stadium that several of the younger players have had to double up on lockers.
Prospects Rio Ruiz and Braxton Davidson were among that group, with Dave Trembley, the Braves’ farm director, saying he wanted them to watch Nick Markakis prepare.
“I can teach you how to play, I can teach you the fundamentals, but I can’t show you,” Trembley, who paired several other prospects with established big leaguers, said. “The best teacher is the guy who’s done it.”
Obtained from the Astros prior to the 2015 campaign, Ruiz endured a difficult first season as a member of the Atlanta organization.
