Many toddlers draw comfort—and courage—from the presence of a “lovey” such as a favorite teddy bear, a soft blanket, or even a bunny with a blue polka-dotted tie. Happily, Carrots safely reappears, but if your child’s comfort object does become permanently lost, you can ease the pain by acknowledging your toddler’s sadness, helping him or her put those strong feelings into words, and providing lots of physical comfort.
2. Daddy’s Hat: Games of peekaboo reassure very young children that although parents sometimes go away, they always come back. It’s a good game to play if your baby is going through a period of not wanting you out of his sight.
