On a Sunday afternoon, about 5pm, on April 14, 1984, a bus pulled up in front of me, the door opened and the driver yelled, “Come on, get on board.” Inside it was crowded, with a mass of raucous people, seemingly a mix of effervescent enthusiasm for the trip ahead and a nostalgic depression for the loss of a significant landmark in all their lives.
