Monkeemobile
I was asked recently if there was such a thing as a model of the Monkeemobile. First, some background. The Monkees were a rock/pop band in the 60s, a manufactured group of actors who could sing and sort-of play music for a TV show. Only, it turned out they learned very well, they did, in fact, play music and later wrote and performed their own songs.
The show needed a car, so Dean Jeffries was commissioned to make two, one for go and one for show. Jeffries used Pontiac’s GTO as a base. The first one was meant to do wheelies so had a big-block, blown V8, an unsprung rear axle and a counter-weight out the back.
