From saunas and plunge pools to ice baths and cryotherapy, there’s a wealth of wellness options. And with increased awareness of the benefits of keeping stress in check and ways to boost longevity, a wide range of at-home equipment is hitting the market. “People are realising that wellness isn’t a luxury, it’s essential,” observes Kim Williams, founder of Frequency Lab in Sydney’s Newtown. “We’re learning that our homes, profoundly influence our mood, sleep and wellbeing. It’s almost impossible to say whether visual artist Leila Jeffreys is a photographer or bird ambassador, the two roles are so inextricably linked for her. “Animal obsessed” since her childhood in Riverton, Western Australia, she recalls the influence of her “nature lover” father and the paperbark trees that lined the river near their home. “Birds registered with me from a very early age,” she says.
