Conditioning the thread that you use for beading helps smooth and flatten the thread fibres, which reduces friction and, therefore, wear on the thread, helping it glide through the beads more easily. It also makes the thread less likely to tangle. To condition your thread, press one end of it down gently into beeswax. Run the entire length of the thread across the wax by holding it in place with your finger. Then run your fingers down the thread to smooth the wax and distribute it evenly.
