This was the case for a family in Vancouver, Canada, with six children – two daughters aged four and 16, and four sons aged six, eight, 10 and 12. After living in cities for the past 55 years, Cathy, a retired drama and English teacher, wanted to surround herself with nature in all its unbounded glory. Her newly built rammed-earth house, which boasts solar power and a passive design, was built by Eco Sustainable Homes in the gold mining town of Castlemaine in central Victoria.
