For Ashley Valmadre, a childhood spent on an idyllic cherry farm and apple orchard in the US state of Michigan was where her creative life began. The farm wasn’t operational anymore, but its cherry trees were still perfect for climbing and swinging from, and there were plenty of interesting people in her midst.
