When Justin and Janet bought their 1920s Art Deco home almost 10 years ago, their plan was always to reinstate its grandeur. The couple and their three children lived in the beachside home in Newcastle, NSW, for four years before embarking on a whole-home renovation, engaging interior designer Stewart Horton, of Horton & Co. It was love at first sight when interior designer Kia Howat from GIA Bathrooms and Kitchens presented a terrazzo-look tile to Melbourne homeowners Anna and Mark. Perth homeowners Flora and Aaron are adept multitaskers: just months after the welcome arrival of their son Anderson, the couple decided to embark on an ambitious renovation of their 1930s home, with Aaron at the helm as owner-builder. The plan was to transform the home and add a modern extension at the back – a minimalist retreat featuring simple finishes and soaring raked ceilings.
