AUSTRALIAN BUS-BODY BUILDER Coach Design is to celebrate its 1000th bus-body milestone next month on 20 July at an official function in Acacia Ridge, Queensland, the company reports. Coach Design founder Chryss Jamieson was an apprentice coach builder in 1970 after leaving school at the age of 16. After serving six years learning the trade with Brisbane City Council, he moved on to a position with a prominent Brisbane coach builder specialising in luxury five-star coaches. In a move to, “reduce emissions, improve the passenger experience, and create local jobs” the Victorian State Government is introducing hybrid technology on 50 new buses in the suburbs of Wyndham, Oakleigh and Sunshine, it’s reported. The introduction of the new Volgren-bodied, Volvo-hybrid buses into the local CDC bus fleet will feature low-floor layouts to “improve passenger access and safety, and are Euro 6 emission standard” - the “highest and cleanest level for [diesel] commercial vehicles worldwide at present,” the Government stated. TRANSPORT CANBERRA is opening the floor to local bus commuters, asking them to provide feedback and suggestions on how it can best service commuters via the new proposed bus network for 2019. According to the peak territory transport body, it wants to, “understand how we can best support you to use the bus network and improve your overall experience when using and connecting to public transport,” it states It says information on the proposed New Bus Network for 2019 is now available for travellers to review and to help them assess their regular journeys.
