The Carolina Panthers made Christian McCaffrey the highest-paid running back in NFL history during the off season, signing him to a four-year, $64 million contract that averages out to $16 million per season.
It can be argued that no one deserves it more. Th e eighth overall pick in the 2017 draft, McCaffrey is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and has set a record for most pass receptions by a running back in each of the last two seasons, topping more than 100 catches both times. Last year, McCaffrey amassed nearly 2,400 yards combined rushing and receiving and 19 total touchdowns.
