Artists have always been fascinated by the endless variety of the human face and features. Some artists made it their primary pursuit, while others have used the art of portrait drawing as a means to an end. One of these artists was Andrew Loomis, who rose to fame in the 1920s and 1930s, during the Golden Age of Illustration in America.
Loomis was part of a select group of illustrators, such as Harvey Dunn, Dean Cornwell and, of course, Norman Rockwell, whose names remain an inspiration to this day. Many of these great illustrators were also accomplished teachers and much can still be learned from their approaches today.
