I have been photographing for more than 20 years. I am drawn to making photographs of things that are challenging to capture, like astrophotography, extreme macro and ferrofluid structures. During the lockdowns, I bought several 50-year-old research microscopes. These have been set up with polarising filters, jerry-rigged eyepieces, phototubes, and adapters and allowed me to capture the wonders of the shapes, patterns, and bursting explosions of the colours of crystals of various substances and chemicals in polarised light.
After refining the process, the project evolved from an interesting photographic experiment into a proper artistic foray. In Notting Hill, London, Alveston Fine Art held a joint exhibition which included 16 of my photographs, printed large on Chromaluxe in March 2023. The exhibition was a resounding success for my work.
