The Resins project is the encounter of translucent paper, oil paint, water-colour and transparent resins. This project stems from my curiosity to understand the behaviour of these materials when their environment changes radically. In this case from a liquid to a solid state, focusing on the transformation of colours and texture. As a result, we perceive the resilience of the materials that have only small changes in the surfaces somehow giving a sensation of movement to the object. Cooperating with each other, each one has managed to naturally find a position in the space. The materials create a balanced order in a single form. When I began learning Mandarin, little did I realize how it would inform my artistic vision. This became evident when I started to experiment with Lumen printing. With the former, I discovered how a seemingly endless permutation of lines, dots, and dashes written within an imaginary square formed meaning through simple and complex forms. With the latter, my thoughts shifted from the acquisition of a craft to learning a language. In my Lumen prints, instead of ink, I used various biological materials to form bold strokes and elegant lines or whispers of dots and dashes. ALANNA AIRITAM Alanna Airitam investigated the biased representation of history in the official canon of art. She missed the identity of people of colour, especially in the paintings of the Golden Age. “I grew up in New York and spent much of my younger years hanging out in different art spaces and museums. I loved being in those rooms with portraits and still lives. I was drawn to the light, the use of light, and the use of colour. But it always occurred to me that the paintings felt intangible to me. Photographers from countries from all parts of the world, like Lithuania, Canada, the UK, China, the USA, Pakistan, Italy and Israel, show that colours are to be found in every corner of our life. Colours and emotions are deeply linked. Primary colours, like red, green and blue, can create strong reactions, while subdued colours influence our moods more subtly. This collection takes Dutch Old Masters as a starting point and then moves our perception of these works to the modern day. More specifically, the series focuses on various still-life subjects, such as food, flowers and fruit. The subject matter is much the same as in the painting of the Old Masters, but the use of modern photographic methods and lighting enables the subjects to be represented in a distinct but subtly different way. I am an amateur photographer. I have not studied this art anywhere because it's a like passion for me, a meditation. I see the beauty of the simple things around me and try to capture it through photography. My works are published in magazines like Vogue, Sguardo Art and Artells. MELANIE ISSAKA We see a white silhouette of a human body against a blue background on a giant canvas clamped with pegs on studio stands. Behind the canvas, a black body is jumping in the same posture as the white body, puzzling the spectator. In this work, Melanie Issaka brings visual art and performance together in one piece. CIG HARVEY The work Blue Violet originated from the tragic experience of her good friend, who was in the hospital for leukaemia treatment and was placed in a room devoid of all sensory influences. Cig Harvey sent her pictures to cheer her up. “I didn't want to send her something that felt dark and depressing, but something that felt beautiful and would bring her joy. Even though there are many pictures of flowers in it, the series is not at all about flowers.
