Many artists capture moments in time in their art through people, places and objects, whether that is the goal of the work or not. They are visual storytellers painting and sculpting the world as they see it, or they could be conveying bigger ideas in narratives that the viewer is left to unfold. TL Lange retrospective A retrospective is being held at Phil Mechanic Studios in Asheville, North Carolina’s River Arts District for the late TL Lange, who was known for his figurative and abstract artwork. Titled Twenty Years Gone, the show features an incredible collection of 20 paintings by the Asheville-based artist never seen by the public. Several works will be for sale. Also included in the exhibition are prints of Anonymous Bathers, one of his most noteworthy creations. Twenty Years Gone is on view through December 12. New Windows at National Cathedral World-renowned artist Kerry James Marshall will create racial-justice themed windows for the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, replacing its former stained-glass windows featuring Confederate iconography, which were removed in 2017. Scottsdale Artists’ School in Scottsdale, Arizona, hosts its 28th annual Beaux Arts fundraiser this November. An entirely virtual event this year, the Beaux Arts silent auction is the school’s biggest fundraiser, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to SAS. “We have so many fantastic artists that donate and keep us going—Kevin Macpherson, G. Eric Slayton, Sandy Scott, Daniel Keys [and more]” says Skye Fallon, director of marketing and communications at Scottsdale Artists’ School. “We have oils, we have watercolors, we have sculpture… We just have such a variety in all different sizes.” The auction also offers a limited set of juried work from the school’s student artists as well as travel packages.” Each year, a signature artist is selected to participate in Beaux Arts with the 2021 honor…
