When Sony revealed the A7R IV in 2019, we quickly knew we were looking at a special camera. It was the first model to boast a 61MP BSI full-frame chip, and what an astonishing sensor it proved to be, with a wide ISO 50-102,400 sensitivity and impressive 15-stop dynamic range. Capable of shooting at 10fps with full AF/AE tracking, there are 567 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection points as well as 5-axis IBIS that works with practically any lens. There’s 4K 30/24fps video with full pixel readout, a clever pixel-shift multi-shot mode to create super-high resolution (19,008 x 12,672 pixel) images, and a larger handgrip for an assured feel. Elsewhere, there’s twin SD card slots, a high-speed USB-C interface and 5.76m-dot EVF with a 3in, 1.44m-dot tilt-angle screen below.
