Geoff says: ‘Being a fan of dance photography – but not actually dancing myself, you’ll be relieved to hear – I really like this image taken by Matthew Crosby. It’s a beautifully lit and edited image, which works extremely well in black & white, with highlights and shadows well preserved. The vignette is quite strong but enhances the scene, and I find the composition satisfying, too. You get a real sense of the “architecture” of conjoined human bodies and it’s an image I keep wanting to look at. A wide range of skin and muscle tones are well captured.
