Founded in 1947 by Ahmet Ertegun and two fellow music fans, the New York based studios broke new ground by embracing and championing a huge range of different genres. That included many types of black music, including R&B, soul, jazz and hip-hop, as well as from other genres such as rock, pop, dance and more.
This book has taken four years to put together, and as is often the case from Taschen, it’s an absolute beast. You might look at the price and think it sounds expensive, but for the size, print quality and pagination, it’s actually pretty well priced.
