FUJIFILM has expanded its Instax instant camera and printer range with the release of Instax Pal. It’s essentially a very small 4.9MP digital camera with an ultra-wideangle lens and built-in Bluetooth to send pictures to Instax Link printers. Despite looking a bit like a GoPro, though, this camera does not shoot video. Other features include a MicroSD slot, built-in storage with a 50-image capacity, and a battery life of 350 shots. The Instax Pal comes in a choice of funky colours – Gem Black, Milky White, Powder Pink, Pistachio Green, and Lavender Blue – and goes on sale from 5 October, with prices starting at £89.99. Testbench CAMERA TEST Sony has always been obsessed with making small cameras; indeed, that was one of the main motivations behind its original full-frame mirrorless Alpha A7 and A7R twins a decade ago. But while those cameras were strikingly smaller than their DSLR contemporaries, their current successors have put on plenty of bulk. So now, the firm has revisited its compact-bodied A7C line with two new models: the 61MP A7CR and the 33MP A7C II. BLACKMAGIC Design recently released the Cinema Camera 6K, a full-frame L-mount camera that’s able to record 6K video footage. The firm has also confirmed that it’s joined the L-Mount Alliance, which includes Leica, Panasonic and Sigma. Two Micro Four Thirds cinema cameras were also announced, the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 and the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2. Do research when you do travel photography to see how photographers shot the attraction in the past. Try to visit the attraction twice if possible. The first time you will be impressed and take normal tourist shots; the second time, you will take your unique shots according to your style. About your pictures I travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2019 and I took an interesting architectural photo of Heydar Aliyev Centre. Launched alongside the 60MP Alpha A7CR, the Sony Alpha A7C II uses the same compact body design, just with a 33MP sensor inside that’s borrowed from the SLR-shaped Alpha A7 IV. In effect, it’s a successor to the original 24MP Alpha A7C from 2020, which could arguably lay claim to being the smallest truly practical full-frame camera. At £2,100 body-only, it can also be seen as a smaller and cheaper alternative to the A7 IV, which costs £2,400. 7 daysA week in photography TAMRON has announced the official release of its 17-50mm F/4 Di III VXD, a wideangle zoom with a constant f/4 aperture, for Sony E-mount. The firm says it’s ideal for both stills and video use. The lens employs 15 lens elements in 13 groups, including three LD (Low Dispersion), a GM (Glass Moulded Aspherical), and two hybrid aspherical lens elements, to suppress aberrations. Also included is Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism for fast and quiet focusing. The new lens is relatively compact too, weighing 460g and 114.4mm long, so it’s well-balanced on Sony mirrorless bodies, claims Tamron. Daido Moriyama, born 1938, is an internationally famous Japanese photographer, best-known for his gritty black & white street photography and contributions to various avant-garde and experimental publications in Japan’s post-war period. The Photographers’ Gallery, one of London’s most prestigious photographic centres, is hosting the first UK retrospective of Moriyama’s work, starting on 6 October. When was the club founded? The club was founded in 1902 in Bideford and while a few early photographs of club members from that time exist, all written records have been lost over time. The club was likely suspended for the duration of the Second World War but has run without interruption since 1946. The club now encompasses a much larger area, taking in the important towns of Torrington, Appledore, Northam and the hinterlands. What does the club offer new members?
