Sitting at the heart of Kent’s last medieval deer park, Knole is a 600-year-old estate encompassing 1,000 acres of unspoilt countryside. Originally a palace for archbishops, and a former royal property of the Tudors, Knole has been home to the Sackville family since 1603, and they have spent four centuries rebuilding the house and filling its showrooms with an incredible, and vast, collection of textiles, furniture and paintings.
Knole was designed to impress visitors, and its size, number of rooms, and general completeness retain their impact today.
For wildlife lovers, Knole Park, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, is a thriving habitat for a range of flora and fauna, including a large herd of wild sika and fallow deer.
