Increasing contrast
Q How can I get more contrast out of my negatives when making prints in the darkroom? Alex McQuade via Facebook
A The first thing I would suggest is to try using a different grade of paper. Photographic papers are graded between 0 and 5, with 0 being the lowest contrast and 5 being the highest contrast. Most photographers use a grade 2 or 3 paper or, if using multi-grade paper, a grade 2 or 3 filter when printing. If this is the case, try switching to a higher grade.
