Somewhere between 1907 and 1910, architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is thought to have first made popular the well-known phrase ‘less is more’, and, indeed, there are times when I concur.
However, today, on behalf of our wonderful Amateur Gardening community of loyal and lovely readers, I’m going to very carefully challenge Mr Mies van der Rohe’s observation and make a counter claim that ‘more is more’, in the gardening department, at least. Let me explain.
With continually changing weather patterns, our seasons - and summer in particular - are becoming increasingly subject to the vagaries of British weather. A rather disappointing, wet and windy summer so far, this year has prevented many of us from venturing out into our gardens anywhere near as much as we’d like. But…
