Surprise encounter
YET again, I find my myself amazed at what is actually roaming around the garden. Val Bourne’s article (AG, 3 June) reminded me that in May, I noticed by pure chance what I thought was a hoverfly by a primrose flower, but on a closer inspection I saw that it was a tiny, furry creature with its tongue in the flower. Its tongue seemed longer than its body. What is this I thought – is a bird, is it a plane, definitely not superman!
