AG READERS are being asked to help select the winner of this year’s prestigious Historic Houses Garden of the Year Award.
There are eight gardens competing, including for the first time a non-mainland plot on the Channel Islands, and award organisers hope to top the 10,000 votes cast by members of the public last year.
Ben Cowell, director general of Historic Houses said: “The award shines a welcome spotlight on our national passion for horticulture, so we encourage everyone to take a look at the shortlist and vote.”

Abbotsford, in Melrose, Roxburghshire, based around the design by Sir Walter Scott.
Bressingham Hall, in Suffolk, renowned for its colourful borders.
Grimsthorpe Castle Gardens, in Lincolnshire, which has intricate parterres.
