“Promote humidity around your plants” WINTER is a relatively quiet time for plants indoors, as it is for most of those that live outside. However, that doesn’t mean you can forget about them. Christmas gift plants, including orchids, hyacinths, Narcissi ‘Paper White’, and Amaryllis, should be watered and fed while they are in flower.
Later in spring, after flowering, forced hyacinth bulbs can be planted in the garden, where they look best in clumps, or lining paths and borders.
‘Paper White’ are not reliably hardy in UK soils, even in the warmest, most sheltered areas. After flowering, feed the bulbs, let the foliage die down, and store them somewhere cool, dark and dry until next autumn, when you can pot them up again.
