“The greenhouse lost several panes” WHILE 2016 has been a turbulent year globally, in ways too numerous to mention here, at least I’ve had some positive developments in the garden!
After two years spent removing trees, shrubs and hedges that dominated my growing space, 2016 has been the first year of building the garden as I imagined.
My aim is to create a balance of ornamental and edible plants, while encouraging beneficial wildlife and insects, using organic methods wherever possible.
This year’s major projects started in January with the arrival of the greenhouse, and the building of three raised beds.
They were all worth the time, effort and money. Successful crops included potatoes, tomatoes, onions and shallots, various soft fruits and berries, runner beans, broad beans, peas and chard, plums…
