WD-40
While many people think WD-40 is a lubricant, this product is not meant to be used that way. Instead, it’s a water displacer, hence the initials ‘WD’. It’s not good for gun use as it’s hygroscopic, meaning it actually attracts water and could therefore promote rust. Nevertheless, some shooters still like to use it as a cleaner, but it must be wiped off completely after use.
BRAKE CLEANER
Despite the name, brake cleaner is a good cleaning product for many items apart from brakes. Don’t get it near anything made of rubber or soft plastic though, as it could deform or destroy them.
