“Freedom is not given - it is taken” - Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Subhas Chandra Bose (1897-1945 C.E.) was born on 23rd January 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa. He was famously known as Netaji. Netaji was one of the prominent leaders who struggled for India's Independence from British rule. He is most famously known for building Indian National Army with Japanese support. Netaji led the youth wing of the INC in the late 1920s and in the year 1938 he became the president of the party. The Indian government decided to celebrate January 23 as 'Parakram Diwas' every year.
